Acne scars, I"m calling your name...do you love your skin? Tamanu does.

Updated: Nov 17, 2021

As a skincare formulator and pharmacist, I absolutely love skincare ingredients and showcasing them in beautiful products, but I also enjoy educating others especially about some of the not so well known amazing skincare ingredients. It gives you the know-how to buy a product whilst being aware what fabulous (or not so fabulous..) ingredients they have put in it. One of my favourite superstars, absolutely love ingredients is Tamanu Seed Oil, let me introduce you !!

It's really a bit like supercalifragilisticexpealidosious, the benefits are so many, where do I start?

Do you want something rich in antioxidants?

Beneficial in treatment of appearance of scarring and acne?

It absorbs UV light and inhibits DNA damage induced by UV radiation.

You can use it for insect bites and ingrown hairs, it promotes cell proliferation and production of collagen, it is rich in fatty acids to moisturise and full of antioxidants.

Should I go on?

"If you love the sound of tamanu seed oil, search it down and enjoy the rich nourishment."

I hear you, there is always a catch, and well honestly, yes, it has a strong and I'm talking wrinkle the nose, thats really healthy kind of smell, maybe a bit like maple syrup is the best way I can describe it. The good news is you don't need much of it to make a difference and it can be cancelled out with other fruitier smells. Good formulators can include it and balance the smell but straight out, it is not the luxurious aroma that the skincare industry has convinced you that you need in your products with the many artificial fragrances.

If you love the sound of tamanu, search it down and enjoy the rich nourishment. We include it in our theskinbiotic Nourished Treatment Oil along with Rosehip, Squalane, Vitamin E and our postprebiotic, it is a rich facial oil and great used at night. Also look out for daily products that include it as it is just so nourishing. And really the results for acne scars are impressive, it is definitely a go-to if this is your concern.

Tamanu oil comes from the seed of the tree nut so do not use if you are allergic to tree nuts.
